California's consumer privacy law — grants California residents rights over their personal data and applies to businesses meeting certain revenue or data-volume thresholds.
Who it applies to
Businesses that do business in California and cross defined thresholds (annual revenue, or the volume of California residents' personal data bought, sold, or shared) — smaller businesses below the thresholds are generally exempt.
What it requires

- —Consumer rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale/sharing of their data
- —A clear 'Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information' mechanism where applicable
- —Reasonable security procedures appropriate to the data being handled
