Vector Database
A database optimized for storing and searching numerical representations of meaning (embeddings).
Text, images, or other data are converted into 'embeddings' — numerical vectors that capture semantic meaning, so pieces of content with similar meaning end up numerically close together. A vector database stores these and can quickly find the most similar entries to a query, which is the retrieval half of a RAG system.
