If a mature SaaS product already solves this well, custom-building is usually the wrong call.
2. Weigh long-term fit
Existing tools are faster to adopt; custom builds fit your exact process and avoid ongoing per-seat costs at scale — the right call depends on how specific your need really is.
3. Consider a hybrid
Often the answer is a no-code platform (fast) wired to one custom piece (for the part nothing off-the-shelf handles well).
