Confidence Threshold
The minimum certainty level required before an AI system acts on its own output automatically.
Rather than always acting on whatever it produces, a well-designed AI system sets a minimum confidence level — below that threshold, the result gets flagged for human review instead of being applied automatically. This is the mechanism behind most of the 'escalates to a human' design patterns used across genuinely reliable AI automation.
