Shadow AI
AI tools employees use for work without IT or leadership's knowledge or approval.
Shadow AI is the AI-specific version of shadow IT — individual employees pasting company data into consumer AI tools, or adopting an AI assistant nobody vetted, outside any sanctioned process. It creates real data-handling risk precisely because nobody scoped what data is going where.
